We have moved to Panama!
Holaaaaaaa everyone!
Hope everyone has had a super blessed week! Things are going great down here in Tepic, and I am learning a lot! I just finished my training, so it's nice to start the normal mission life. We found a house, and it's exactly what we need! It's one block from the church, pizza, and a bus ride away from Walmart. SO, you could say I am living the high life. (Our street is named Panama, so that is why we moved to Panama haha).
We are opening this area, and I’m not going to lie. It's going to be difficult here. The ward did not have a bishop for about 3 years, and all the members are old... Not like old but like SUPER old. And there is only about 40 of them, so we really do have our work cut out for us. But, I am always ready for a challenge!
Tepic is a lot different than Guadalajara, but I think I like it more! The weather is very hot mid day, but the mornings and evenings are very cool! It's another city that is surrounded by these beautiful green mountains! As soon as you leave the city though and head to the mountains there are really poor neighborhoods (more of what I imagined my mission to be like). Dirt roads and shacks, but I like it because the people are way nicer on the outskirts than in the city. My companion is super awesome and has a great desire to learn English. In the streets she teaches me more Spanish, and I teach her English! We have lots of fun together, and I love that I can learn more Spanish!
It's not letting me send pictures this week, but hopefully next week it will work! I am almost done reading all of Doctrine and Covenanents and these verses really struck my heart this week:
"My son peace be unto thy soul, thine afflictions shall be but a small moment, And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high, thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.” D&C 121:7-8
I am a strong believer in pushing through, and I know that when we try our best God will always reward us. Maybe not in that exact moment, but we will have the greatest blessing of all, eternal life. Hope you all have a blessed week!
