Ponderosa Branch

Sister Meldrum

Week 15 - Week of Miracles

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing well! Things are happening here in the Ponderosa Branch!!

We've had 2 amazing lessons with the Family of 8 from Honduras. They are amazing!!!! Wow this family is unbelievable!! All 8 of them, plus 2 little kids were home and participated in both of our lessons! They LOVE the scriptures- they asked for a few more copies because they've been trying to all share the 2 copies they already have! Reyna and Moises moved from Honduras 4 years ago and Reyna's brother and his wife Paula moved with their family 4 months ago to the US. So no one in the family speaks English except the 10 and 13 year old! We talked to them about the plan that Heavenly Father has for them and how they could be a forever family and they Loved it!! Reyna's brother, Jose started to cry when we talked about the atonement. I could see in his eyes that he had been through so much and wanted to know his Savior. I love this family more than I can really explain. I can physically feel how much their Heavenly Father loves them when I pray for them and teach them the gospel. Apparently Reyna had been taught by missionaries in Honduras and two sister missionaries prayed for her when her daughter almost died! She told us with tears in her eyes that she knew it wasn't a coincidence that we found their family once again. This is the joy the gospel brings! Hope to a young father trying to support his young wife and kids in a foreign country where they don't speak the language and don't have any education, hope to a mother who wants so desperately for her children to find hapiness in their lives, and hope for everyone who turns to their Savior, hope for you!! We all have moments that take us out of our comfort zone. Walking around the hood in east Bakersfield preaching about Christ in my second language is a bit out of my comfort zone but Jesus Christ has truly given me strength in these moments!

It's pretty easy to find joy for a moment when we are focused on the things of the world, but when we keep our eyes on the Savior we find a very different kind of joy- the eternal kind.

I would love to write more but we just found out that the power is out in the building where our car is getting fixed so its stuck on the lift so I have to go figure that out hahaha.

Anyway I love you all so much!! Send me an email, I'd love to hear from you...and so would your heavenly father so real quick go say a prayer and tell him thanks. I'm so grateful for my family and for the opportunity to be here doing the Lords work. Love you all!! Have a fantastic week!!
