Sister Thoun

My Idol

Hello everyone,

This week we had transfers! Doesn't really feel like they happened because I am still in Kampong Cham and with Sister Thoun but we have a new sister in our house which is fun!

Tuesday was so fun, we rode a tuktuk with the first counselor in the district presidency (Bong Bora) to a really far area in Branch 3. He is my idol! He is a young dad who helps us to visit members and teach. All the members out there haven’t been to church in a long time and some shared their problems with us. Luckily, he knew exactly what to say to help and relate to them because I didn't.

I love Sundays. Although it is crazy busy with two different branches to attend and all of the meetings, it is awesome seeing the miracles every week. This week a member who hasn’t been to church for like 10 plus years just showed up. It was awesome seeing everyone being so welcoming and we were able to find out where her house was so we can go visit her this week because we didn’t know her before.

I also may have given a talk and may have also totally cried while I gave it haha. The spirit and the fact that I was really nervous and trying to speak khmer well enough for everyone to understand. Basically I shared “The Wondrous and True Story of Christmas” By President Gordon B. Hinckley. I invite you all to go read it but I will explain it a little:
There was this class of rowdy boys who made rules they promised to follow. One day a skinny little boy (Jim) was caught for stealing a big boy (Tom’s) lunch. The punishment was he had to take off his coat and be hit 10 times with a stick. Well Jim was really poor and didn’t have another shirt under his coat. No one wanted to see this little kid be hit and then Tom volunteered to take the punishment for Jim. Even though Jim had stolen Tom’s lunch. After 5 hits the stick broke and the teacher saw the class was all crying and Jim wrapped his arms around Tom’s neck and told him “Tom, I will love you till I die for taking my licking for me! Yes, I will love you forever”
And this is exactly what Jesus Christ did for each of us “with His stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5) The story is very powerful for me and I know that Christ is our big brother, our friend and he would suffer any punsihment to help us, especially in our lows. I love this gospel and I love my Savior. I hope you all have great week!
