Hello everyone,
This week I was inspired by a video I saw of missionaries just having so much fun with each other and members and I was like woah I want to live like that! So I decided this week was going to be fun. And it totally worked here are some highlights:
-I ate spider for the first time
-I learned how to open a clam shell using another shell
-we went on an unnecessary 1 ½ hour bike ride to a recent converts house (when it should have only been 45 minutes)
-we had district council sitting on the ground outside the church
-we found two different houses of people who are Christian already and are interested to learn with the sisters
-Sister Seng and I had a house party for three nights while the other sisters were out of town
-I got to ride my bike down a mountain
-I ate a hamburger at the gas station, best thing ever
-the cutest grandma brought corn for all the elders and sisters at english class
-we had service planting trees
It was a good week for sure, lots of laughing and randomness. Also so crazy… we went and visited a member with the Elders we had never met before. They were so nice. It was a middle aged woman, one of her daughters, and her grandchild. Then Sunday at church we find out that her daughter had died from a motorcycle accident. I was so shocked but I am so grateful we went to their house and were able to meet this girl before she passed away.
It was also pretty sad to hear because apparently she was drunk when she crashed. Who knows what would have been different if she had been following the commandments from God and strengthening her testimony everyday? This reminded me of a talk by President Nelson that I read this week called “We can do better and be better”. He tells us that repentance is the key to happiness and it is an opportunity for us to grow. I know we will never be perfect but when we try to repent everyday we get more strength and power from God to help us in our life. I know what the prophets encourage us to do will help us to make better life decisions and have a happier life because we won't be weighed down by things that are bad for us or make us unhappy.
