Spooky Season
Hey everyone,
Happy Halloween! (even though people don't really celebrate it in Cambodia)
Nothing too spooky actually happened this week except when I was riding my bike. All of the sudden a dog started barking and running beside me, almost biting my leg. But, the owners called it back and I was able to ride away safely.
Some good news! We went to teach two of our friends this week and they had two more family members who live in the same area and want to start learning too. The young boy even came to church on Sunday which made me so happy! He said he liked it so that's something :)
I also got to witness our elders and a few kids playing a game using old shoes and a rock. A lot of people here have so little but it amazes me how happy people are and that they still find ways to have fun. I will put the video link below!'
Lately I have been getting frustrated a lot by things I wish I could do better, or things that I wish my companion would do, etc. But I have been trying to be patient and trust in God that the people here in Battambong will still hear his message even with the imperfections of his missionaries.
Even with the ups and downs that I am feeling I have realized that these experiences will bless me down the road. A scripture I liked while reading in Acts 5 this week was :
“40 When they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.”
So many people have suffered so much to be disciples of Christ. But Peter and John rejoiced that they could suffer on behalf of Jesus Christ, our Savior. That has helped me a lot this week as I think about the struggles that are affecting me but knowing that I am doing this for my Savior. My pains and weaknesses are nothing compared to all He suffered and His great power. I can feel joy in knowing that I am doing this for Him!
