Hello everyone,
I hope you all are doing great! This week we were able to teach some of my favorite people which always makes me happy! Also I am pretty sure there is no part of a chicken Cambodians won’t eat. This week I had the pleasure of eating chicken's blood, where they boil the blood so it's like a jello kind of texture and put it in soup. Luckily it didn’t taste too bad because it was surrounded by a bunch of other things so that is a plus.
A big miracle from this week was when my old companion Sister Hansen told me about an inactive member who has a friend that wants to learn with the missionaries. We were so excited, and Sister Lim and I went over to the market where the member works to visit her on Friday. While we were there her friend came and sat down and we were able to get to know both of them for almost an hour! We made plans to meet her friend the next day. Luckily, we were able to find her house with some basic directions and lots of phone calls and teach her about the Godhead and prayer. It was a pretty cool experience because she already had some Christian background and had a few questions about differences in our church (which has never happened to me before).
Some other news, my companion was making dinner for herself and I was just sitting there wondering what I could make out of all the random stuff we buy from the market. I decided to try and make ឆា or stir-fry using beef and vegetables we had. With a little bit of help from Sister Chan I made dinner for myself and the other sisters in our house. It was a small victory for me! Especially when Sister Va told me it was actually yummy. Mom, I hope you are proud because that is definite proof I have grown a lot since I have been in Cambodia!
One last thing, this week I read a great talk Trust in the Lord by Richard G. Scott and I invite everyone to read it too! Something he said that opened my eyes was that challenges come even when we seem to be doing everything right “they are evidence that the Lord feels you are prepared to grow more”. Change and growth is hard. But the only way for us to become someone greater than we are now is to be pushed and be taken outside of our comfort zone. That's why it is uncomfortable and we may hate it at first. But as we accept change and pray to do God’s will, we can receive so much help from our Heavenly Father. I know that for a fact. And I am still working on accepting God’s will. But I have to remind myself this transfer, this mission, and the people I am meeting now will help me become more like my Savior and prepare me for experiences I will have later in life. God has a plan for each one of us and we can trust in him!
I love you all!
