Hello my wonderful friends, family, and acquaintances,
Well, this was my first official week as a Spanish missionary. Lemme tell you something ... I do not know Spanish. I thought I knew a little. I do not. Native speakers are INSANE. It gives me sympathy for those learning languages in other places other than their home country.
HOWEVER I do know how to pray and testify simply in Spanish, so I'm not completely useless maybe. I can definitely feel myself picking up words and phrases and I'm so grateful for the Lord's hand in that.
This week was good, at first we were worried about our investigator Hilda because she wasn't answering the door and didn't show to our lesson. But we found out she was just having health problems so she is definitely still on date for February 20th, keep her in your prayers. She definitely needs it.
We met the craziest less active man I've ever met. He's a return missionary who has struggled for a long time after his mission and was even ex communicated and re baptized. He is ... awesome. We talked with him for a long time and he told us that only one other elder ever got him to go to church and now we're going to be the next ones to do it. :) He then sent a text to the other elders and told them how blown away he was by us and the spirit he felt when we walked into his house. He also found out we didn't have dinner and cooked us breakfast burritos. It was pretty fabulous. He's a big biker (dad :)) and is super loud and really sassy. But we bring the sass right back and are very bold with him. Hopefully we can get him back to church. Pray for him as well.
I got to ride my bike for the first time in a month this week which was amazing. We were biking at night which was pretty scary because we have no street lights and our front lights aren't the brightest, but I felt it was a pretty good metaphor for life and the gospel. Life is scary and dark and we can easily get lost or crash, but as long as we keep our eyes focused on what is illuminated in front of us by the little light we have, we will make it. I think the gospel represents that light, sometimes we try to look past it and see more but then we just fall again, we need to focus on the simplicity of that little light.
Anyway, this week really was great. Thank you so much for everything you guys do! You are the best!
