Well hello everyone!
Happy April! IT'S SUNNY AND WARM TODAY! By warm I mean 45 degrees which equals flats and no tights.
I have a new companion! Her name is Sister Nelson and she is from Scottsdale/Phoenix area! She's been out for 14 months! Fun fact: We were in the same district when I first came out! Her first couple days here, we got lost on our way to a members house for dinner. We were literally miles in the forest with no end in sight. Our GPS took us to a random gate in the middle of nowhere. She kept saying "WHAT THE HECK IS MACHIAS?!" Which pretty much summed up my thoughts my first week here as well. Good news is, Sister Nelson and I have much in common. For example; same wallet, same favorite color, same favorite animal, same dislike for Utah names. It's gonna be a good transfer!
In honor of Easter coming up, the church came out with a new initiative called #PRINCEofPEACE. On mormon.org it says, "More than 2,000 years after Isaiah called Him the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ is still our key to peace. This year, in the week leading up to Easter, focus on one of these eight principles to honor Him and find His peace in your life; faith, God's word, compassion, gratitude, prayer, forgiveness, repentance, and hope." I know that as I have studied and applied these principles in my life, I have truly found His sense of peace and comfort that cannot be found from the world, only in and through Him. 💛
General Conference was so good! Between sessions on Saturday, Sister Nelson and I were hardcore craving Jimmy Johns and it just so happened that I had their phone number and she had their menu. Comp unity.
Anyway, I loved so many of the talks. A couple that stood out to me were Jeffery R. Holland's and his whole analogy of the world as a choir. He quoted a hymn "Jesus listening can hear, the songs you cannot sing." He said to come as you are but don't plan to stay as you are because God is determined to make you more than you are. I also loved President Thomas S. Monson's invitation and promise, "I implore each of us to prayerfully study and ponder the Book of Mormon each day. As we do so, we will be in a position to hear the voice of the Spirit, to resist temptation, to overcome doubt and fear and to receive heaven's help." Another one that stuck out was S. Mark Palmer describing Christlike love. "As we learn to see others as the Lord sees them rather than with our own eyes, our love for them will grow and so will our desire to help them. We will see potential within others they likely do not see in themselves. With Christlike love we will not be afraid to speak with boldness for "perfect love casteth out fear". I could go on but I'll stop there for now.
We found 3 new investigators this week! We were already dropped by 2 of them though...we'll just continue looking for the elect.
Make it a great week! Until next time...
