Health Adventure!

My family

Week 10: SURGERY

Hello friends!

My mom tells me I need to give a bit more detail on what is going on with me.  I guess she has been answering a number of emails from people concerned about me.  So here is the full scoop.  If you don't want to know, stop reading now. (I won't judge)

Over the past few months, a cyst has been growing on one of my ovaries.  (I'll pause while some of you think back to your high-school health class) At first I thought the pain I was feeling was due to a food allergy but after trial and error, my stomach was not feeling better.  I went to the doctor's, and he ran several tests including a CT scan. It was this scan that discovered I had this cyst (about the size of a cantaloupe). Since the cyst needed be removed via surgery and a several weeks to recovery after surgery, I was temporarily released as a missionary.  I am staying with my grandma currently in Utah because she had a great gynecologist for me to go to, who then referred me to a great surgeon.  On Monday of this past week I had surgery, and he removed the cyst, my left ovary, and my appendix (basically, I got really thin).  And the best news is that it wasn't cancerous and so now I'm on pain meds, sleeping a lot, and taking it easy.  I will probably stay in Utah for the first few weeks of my recovery, but after that I don't know if I'm staying here or going to California for a little bit.  For the first two weeks, I cannot lift anything more than 15 lbs but eventually I have to be able to walk 2 mile and lift 30 pounds to be given a medical release before I can go to Japan.  I optimistically hope that I will be ready to go by the next transfer (in 6 weeks) but I may need to stay longer.

I have been so grateful for all your support and kind words of encouragement through this experience.  I don't know why this is happening now or to me but I do know for certain that Heavenly Father has a perfect plan for me and this is apart of it.  I have absolute faith in His timing and wisdom, and know that everything will work out how it is supposed to.  Even if I'm delayed longer than I would like, can't go to Japan for some reason, or can't serve the rest of my mission, I know that it is up to the Lord and I have faith in Him.  He loves me so much, and loves each of you.  Because of my trust in Him I have been so very blessed with miracles and comfort, and I know that each of you can be too. <3

So that's what has been going on. :) If you want to email, use this email or you can email  If you want to come visit or call, send me an email and I'll give you the address in Tooele or a number you can reach me at. :)
And thank you for your prayers on my behalf. I really appreciate it. <3
