Happy Monday and Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope that you are all taking the opportunity at this wondfearful time of year to recognize the Savior's hand in your lives. It is so amazing how just the simple act of being grateful can change our perspective and allow us to see Christ in what can seem to be the most hopeless circumstances.
I was asked to give a talk on gratitude this week in sacrament meeting, specifically how gratitude for the Atonement of Jesus Christ can help us overcome our faults. Deep topic! I know! But I was able to figure it out and learned SO much along the way. Here is one cool fast I learned in my studies:
The word, Gratitude and Grace, come from the same Latin root word, Gratia, which means for the sake of someone or something. So gratitude was literally given to us from of Heavenly Father for our benefit. Like grace, it is a saving principle that allows us to become like Jesus Christ and return. Back to our Heavenly Father one day. Pretty cool!
Anyway, this week I got to go on two exchanges! Exchanges are where you switch companions for the day and learn from that person. I was able to be with two of my previous companions, Sister Applegate and Sister Eborn. We just had a blast together!
I also hit my one year mark! Pennsylvania decided to bless me on this wonderful occasion by dumping snow all day! For any of you that know me, you know that this is NOT a good thing, but we made the best of it and had a great day. That was also the day I went on exchanges with Sister Applegate. She came out the same day I did and so we hit our year mark together!
We found some pretty awesome people this week! One of which is named Nikki. Oh my goodness! I love Nikki so much. She is a single mother with three boys and is literally supermom! She loves her kids so much and would do anything for them. She has lived a really hard life but recently has found God and is so prepared for the gospel. When we met with her we taught about the healing power of the Book of Mormon. The spirit was so strong! I just never stop being amazed at how perfect the Lord's timing is. He always puts us into people's lives just when they need us most.
Well I love you all! I am just so grateful for the opportunity I have to serve the Lord at this time. There truly is nothing better than helping others come closer to Christ!
Have a great week! Don't forget to be thankful and be patient with that nasty old lady that cuts in front of you to grab the last hot commodity on Black Friday. Jesus love her too!
