Sister Eborn

Re: Land of Miracles!

Alright! Buckle your seatbelts because you are about to be blown away! One if the elders in our zone served in Dover and the first thing he said to us was, "You're in Dover? Man! That's the Promised Land!"

Wow he was right!

So First, on Tuesday we got to meet our new mission President and his family! President Mutombo is so amazing. He has THE biggest smile and the funniest laugh. They are from the D.R if the Congo so neither his wife or kids speak English. But his wife is learning. She knows how to say her testimony and that she loves us. She is so cute! She was going around to all the sisters and taking selfies with us. She would make a duck face in every single one of them! I can tell I'm going to love this family! Oh, also, President Mutombo got to meet President Nelson at the MTC! He told us about the experience and then ran around the room and shook all of our hands saying, " You just shook the Prophets hand!" Man, he is a funny guy!

Sister Eborn and I are really starting to figure out this whole biking thing. Together we have only ruined two pairs of shoes and two skirts! Hey but if you ever need to get chain grease out of your clothes use dish soap!

Okay, now for the bucket load of miracles the Lord has just poured on us this week!

So we have this family we are teaching Jerry, his son Devin, and his son's friend Jason. On the 4th they invited us over for a BBQ and a lesson. We have been trying to help them get in the habit of reading their scriptures and praying. Well we are teaching our lesson and Jason just stops us and says, "You know, I've been praying and I think I need to be baptized". What!? And then both Jerry and Devin told us that they feel the same way. Sister Eborn and I were stunned because we did not think that they were ready for that but I guess that shows what we know! Every night since then Jerry and Devin have been calling us over video chat, which they initiated, to tell us that they have been reading and praying!

Okay so if you read that and still don't believe in miracles you better stay seated for this one! Awe man! I'm still so shook. This is great! Okay, okay!

So this transfer I have been working on acting and praying in faith. The first day here Sister Eborn turned to me and said, "Okay, we are going to teach a Restoration lesson. Who is it going to be?" And I said, "Kim".

Well that night we did not teach a Restoration to Kim but we did teach a Restoration to Ken. Instead of saying, "Oh that's good enough," we decided to put our faith to the test. We created "Kymm" (thats how we decided to spell her name). We said that she is going to have at least two sons that are young men aged and a daughter that is young women's aged (12-18). We gave been praying for this family ever since.

Well Sunday we are walking through the streets of Dover and we stop and talk to this lady. She tells us that she thinks it's awesome we are serving missions and that her son went on a mission trip to do service for some third would country. We asked her what her name is and she said Kymm (not actually sure if it's spelled that way). I just laughed to myself and thought, "Yeah right! Like this is really her and if it is there is no way she's going to invited us back because she's pretty involved in her own church". Oh ye of little faith!

We talk to her for a little longer. Ask her about her family. She said she has two boys and a girl ages 19, 14, and 12! And then she invites us back to teach her more! What? Oh Man! The Lord is So good! After we left Sister Eborn and I just stood there in complete shock! This really just happened!

The Lord humbled us really quickly. The next door we knocked on was an older couple. They let us in and had us sit down just to try and convince us of how much we had been "deceived". But man after that experience we just testified to them that we know without a shadow of a doubt that this church is true and that nothing could make us deny that.

I just want to leave you with my testimony that I know that this church is true. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints is Christ's church restored to the earth again. I know that the Lord is aware of each of us. That He has miracles prepared for each of our lives and he is just waiting for us to exercise the faith so that He can open the flood gates. I know that all I am and all I can become is because of Him.

I am so blessed to have two amazing parents who have done nothing but love and support me. Who have both taught me by being a Christ-like example and have given me the strength I need to face every hard day the Lord throws at me.

To any of you that are struggling with your faith right now just try it. Like Alma says experiment on the word. Put the Lord's challenge to the test.

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." (Mathew7:7-8)

I promise you as a set-apart missionary of the Lord that He will answer you. It will take work. He tells us that we have to Ask, Seek, and Knock. We have to Pray, study the Book of Mormon, and give Him our broken and humbled hearts but as we do so He will answer you. He will show himself to you just as He showed Himself to me this Sunday.

I love you all. And I know the Lord loves you too.

I say these things in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
