Happy pday!!
I thought it would be fun to talk a little bit about some of our friends that are just the best 🫶
Rafael is one of our recent converts and is truly such an awesome member! He is always first to serve and loves all the church activities and services. It has been so cool seeing his progress as I've served in Enriquillo! He found me and my ex compa Yates (love you Yates 😘) in the street one day and asked for a BOM #towelman He told us he had the same question as Joseph Smith and wanted to find the true church. I've seen him progress as he's learned how to pray, study the Book of Mormon, get to know the sacrament service, develop friends with the members, watch general conference for the first time, make the sacred covenant of baptism, recieve the priesthood, bless the Sacrament, and this week he was able to go to the temple for the first time and help his mom and his sister recieve the ordinance of baptism!! It has been beyond words incredible seeing someone progress this much and change their life.
Peter is a reference we started teaching and he loves our lessons! He is progressing super well and is on date to be baptized December 9th! Without fail everytime we have a lesson with him, he and his brother always get a little side tracked by telling us about some crazy news story they heard like a girl in Russia who knows 8 languages or someone in Germany with problems in their hands buttttt eventually we get back on track with the gospel and they always have good comments and questions.
Angelica is one of our incredible friends that the missionaries have been teaching for a while. She started coming to church and has absolutely loved it! She even has started coming to all the youth activities and it's so sweet seeing her be so welcomed into young women's. She has truly grown so much spiritually and truly has become such a good friend.
The work in Enriquillo has been good and we've been working so hard everyday. Honestly trying to find and talk to everyone has been a struggle for me in my mission cause I always feel so awkward just talking to strangers. Usually my conversations include lots of "esta bien" "que bueno" "de verdad?" "Así es" "que chulo" And lots and lots of smiles and head nods. But I feel like this week I saw lots of progress in my contacts and I was able to talk more fluidly 🥳 the gift of tongues is real but also patience in yourself and in the Lord makes all the difference.
Thursday was Thanksgiving!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone 🦃 I got to talk with my family a little and then we had a zone Thanksgiving lunch which was super fun. Hermana Pedraza made some amazing tacos 🤤 and I made some guacamole to go with them. Now everyone calls me whetten-mole 🙄😂 it was a super fun day and we all shared what we were grateful for and then cleaned up and went to work!
This email was kind of all over the place but I hope you guys had an amazing Thanksgiving!! Build a gingerbread house and go ice skating for me 🥶
