I hope you all had a great week. This one was one of the weirdest weeks of my mission so far. It started off right after p-day! We usually go to a service on Monday nights but Elder Penny's chest started hurting. It got so bad he eventually had to go to the ER. We were there until 1 in the morning. He is good but was onbed rested all week. Fortunately for me, I have some of the best missionaries in world working with me. They all agreed to take shifts so that I wouldn't be stuck inside all week. What a great group of guys. I first went with Elder Bell. We had a funny experience. We had been knocking doors for about an hour and nobody would answer. The only gal that answered her door told us that she was an Atheist and slightly autistic! We thought that would be the end of our front porch conversation with her….not so! She said that she could not actually believe that Noah could really fit two of every animal on the Arc. That’s why she doubted the Bible to be true! I wasn’t sure how to answer that so I just said cool and we were on our way!!
Another thing that happened was we decided to knock a street called Black Dog Road.... we were trying to decide why it's called that when of course we found out! A big black lab came out and chased us. I DO NOT MISS THAT AT ALL!! Let's just say the power of a Book of Mormon is real. haha The rest of the week was just us switching off and going tracting and knocking doors and teaching lessons.
Thursday was a super good day. We drove to Roanoke again to meet the New mission president. The Newman’s are awesome, but it will take time to get used to a new president. I miss President Lindhart alot but God has a plan for the Charleston, West Virginia Mission. It was fun though because I got to see all of my mission buddies again. That's always the best. Friday we had our last District council of the transfer. It was good! We later had Zone Leader exchanges too. I went with my old MTC roommate Elder Cox. It was great to catch up and have some fun! We ended up skinning a squirrel out too. We are gonna cook it up later and see how it tastes. Lowery’s season salt makes everything good! Also found out that Elder Penny is getting transferred. So I'll be getting a new companion, fresh out of the MTC that I will be training, this week.
On the spiritual side of things...the new program that just came out for the youth looks awesome. It is reassuring to know that we have a prophet on the earth today. We taught a Recent Convert this week about prophets as well how important they are. I am stoked for conference and cannot wait to hear their words and teachings of our Prophet, President Nelson, and member of the twelve. It will be a spiritual feast!!
Have a good week!
Love ya all!
Elder H. Brian
