Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to everyone back home! I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas day and the rest of the week leading up to New year’s. It was so awesome to talk to my family and see their smiling faces Haha. but I'm also glad that the holidays are over, so we can get back into the normal groove of things. The work has really been weird after Christmas. We aren't sure if were supposed to share a Christmas message or something about new year, yet we still figured it out and had a fantastic week. We did a lot of exchanges to help the work get moving. The first of the week we went with the University Elders. Elder Willis and Elder Michelson. I went with Elder Michelson for the day in Cheat Lake and we killed it. We walked a lot because they are low on miles, but it was good to burn off some Christmas calories. We talked to a lot of cool people. One person in particular, was named Tontiona. (I doubt that's how you spell it) but she is an 18 year old Spanish girl and he taught her in Spanish. He is waiting for Visa to head to Ecuador. So that was a cool experience. We ended up teaching her neighbor too. To finish the night off strong we ended up teaching 3 more ladies on their doorstep. Really cool experience as well.
Our next exchanges were towards the end of the week with the Zone Leaders. I was with Elder Ballard. What a cool name hu? He’s like 12 cousins 3 times removed with the Big man up in Salt Lake. We had the most amazing lesson ever. Our boy named Adam read 2 nephi 31 and he said he felt like his body exploded. The spirit was that strong for him. We then put him on date and wants to start coming to church. He had his cousin there too who is a less active member who kept telling him how great it is. To top it off, they had the cutest puppy there that I got to hold while teaching the gospel. Bonus for me!
We also had interviews with President Lindhart and a really good district council Friday too. Turns out that President Lindhart use to gold mine in Alaska. So of course, I brought up my love for the show Gold Rush and we talked about it for a while. He is such an awesome guy.
We also had our last 3-hour church this week. I'm pretty excited about the new change except now our church starts at 9 instead of 1. We tried to use that to get people to church saying they'd be part of history. Didn't buy it!
Spiritual Thought: Acts 38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
If this wasn't truly Christ’s church on the earth today, it would not stand or be able to bring others unto Christ like it does. This is Christ’s Church. I testify of that!
Well I hope you all have a very Happy New Years!! Thanks again for all of the Christmas love! Thanks for thinking of me!
Love Elder Brian
