For those of you keeping count at home, don't.
Monday: We had a zone activity at the science museum in Raleigh. It was so much fun, even though we got a little soaked on the way in. Nothing like a NC rainstorm to welcome in the summer :) It rained off and on the whole day, which made tracting an adventure! We went on exchange after the activity and I got to go to Garner. It was kind of fun to leave Holly Springs on my last exchange. Little miracle of the night, every time it was raining hard, we somehow were under cover, whether that was in someone's house or just standing on their porch talking to them. So we didn't get too wet, which was good because this was their bike week. Then we stopped at a gas station on the way home because we were hungry and the man who works there gave us our snacks for free "because we are doing the work of the Lord". He isn't a member, but with that attitude that might change in the near future :)OH!!! I also got an email from Christina (someone in my last area who got baptized 2 months ago) and she said she has a calling and got a temple recommend!! I am so happy for her!!!❤❤
Tuesday: We biked in the morning and I loved it!! The weather was perfect and I had forgotten how much fun it is to ride a bike. Holly Springs is full car (but only because we are the Sister Training Leaders, our area (even with two wards) is small enough to be part bike) and so I forget how much I actually enjoyed biking. I got to meet Jennifer, someone the Garner sisters are teaching. I have heard about her for months and haven't had the chance to meet her yet. She is so sweet and so excited to get baptized!!! I love meeting people who are so genuinely excited about the gospel, it just makes me exited too!
Wednesday: I wasn't feeling good on the way to district meeting, so I got a blessing when we got there. We had to instruct on what we heard at MLC, so we couldn't not go, but I was really tempted to go home and go back to sleep. But after I got a blessing I started feeling better and ended up being just fine the whole day. I am so grateful for the priesthood on the Earth and the opportunity I have to get blessings. We did more service for Ernie. We get to paint next week!! He has been working on his basement for over a year and is getting so close to finishing it! (to be totally honest, he's not 100% ready to paint in all the rooms, but he said we would do it for my last week. So there are some perks to people knowing you're going home soon)We had planned to tract in an apartment complex and miraculously saw two people we haven't been able to get up with. One of them was a former investigator and we were able to talk to her a little bit. She is still reading the Book of Mormon occasionally, so I know eventually she will get baptized. We were also able to see our investigator Josh, who is always busy. He said he wanted to come to church and that he loves the Book of Mormon!!!
Thursday: Had a lesson with Jenn on tithing. Long story short, she said she can't get baptized on the 17th. That is all I have time to say (plus thinking about it for too long makes me sad), but she has such a strong testimony and I know that she will get baptized in the near future. It just won't be while I'm here to see it. We had an amazing lesson with a new investigator, Russ. We tracted into him last week and he actually read the pamphlet we gave him. That never happens so when people do I get really excited! He was so open and receptive and really felt the Spirit when we shared the First Vision. Sometimes I forget how much power there is in Joseph Smith's description of his experience. But I haven't seen anything soften hearts and invite the Spirit as much as reciting the First Vision and bearing testimony of its truth.
Friday: Finished weekly planning, did My Plan, lots of administrative stuff today. But we were able to see a less-active who we have never caught at home before! She was miraculously getting home right as we pulled up and we were able to talk to her for a few minutes. She said we could come back this coming week and meet her whole (nonmember) family!
Saturday: We went tracting at the edge of our boundaries (to put in perspective how small our area is (even putting both ward together) it takes less than 15 minutes to get to this boundary and 20-25 minutes to get to the far end of the other ward) and found someone who is totally interested! In the second house we knocked on. Sometimes you have to go a little out of your comfort zone to find the miracles. But not too far, Holly Springs doesn't cover enough to be uncomfortable :)We also stopped by a less-active we knew nothing about. She let us in and we talked for close to an hour. In the process she mentioned that she had requested no contact from the church......oops!!! BUT she was super nice to us and even gave us her number! So clearly there was a reason we had forgotten she was do not contact.
Sunday: I saw President and Sister James unexpectedly! It is always such a treat to get to see them, especially when I don't expect it <3 We got a new neighbor! We were leaving to go to dinner and saw her moving things in. We knew our dinner was running late, so we texted them to let them know we were also running late. We helped our new neighbor carry her stuff up our 3 flights of stairs and she was so so grateful! Service really softens hearts!
Bonus: This morning Sister Briggs took us on an adventure to downtown Raleigh. We went to a farmers market, the Capital, and a fun Venezuelan restaurant for lunch. It was such a fun way to spend my last real p-day since next week will be spent deep cleaning the apartment.
Love y'all
