Aloha! Feliz Dia de Las Madres! Happy Mother's Day! it was so fun to Skype on Sunday - woohoo!
Well we've been working hard here in El Paso 12th Ward. I'm step training Hermana Bosch and it is an adventure! She has such an awesome attitude of working and pushes me to have that happy spirit of working every day! We had a training this week on OYMing (contacting) and how we can change our approach to be more effective. To be more personable and establish our purpose - and find those fruits that are ready to harvest! The new scripture of the month is Hebrews 12:1 -2:
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
We talked about being finishers. As representatives of Jesus Christ we covenant and commit to do. Which means to begin, to do and to finish. Christ is the finisher of our faith, it is in our spiritual DNA to finish strong and find the joy that is set before us. So we OYMed hardcore this week! And we are excited to work even harder next week!😃
Funny moments of the week:
- I felt something on my elbow as we were talking to a man on his doorstep, but I just thought it was my hair. Then I felt it again on my arm so both Hermana Bosch and I look down at my arm and scream bloody murder at the GIANT COCKROACH. I haven't screamed like that in a longtime.
- Hermana Bosch and I cannot sing in the morning. Everytime we sing a hymn during companionship study we sound like dying cats. Good thing the walls are thick.
- We were walking into an apartment complex to start contacting and there was this cute but sort of scraggly looking dog standing in front. We kept walking toward it and as soon as I reach down to pet it it JUKED ME. Like ninja freak our move. The dog must watch soccer on the regular because I just got served by a dog. Hermana Bosch and I could not stop laughing.
I just wanted to share this video that we watched with a less active member this past week. I think it is so powerful! My favorite quote is about healing the soul as opposed to healing the body, that healing the soul is found in the triage of outward service.
