The Gospel isn't just for mistakes... and smoked wild turkey!

Last Monday after p-day we headed down to Bristol for dinner with a member. After some awesome sloppy joes, we shared a short message on the Atonement of Jesus Christ using Alma 7. This reminded me what I am quick to forget, that the Gospel isn't just for mistakes. It is to move on and let the love of God change and heal us.

Tuesday, we tracted mucho, taught a young mother and had the opportunity to be the answer to the prayers of a less active who has been praying that the missionaries would find him. We had a great dinner with a member and headed off to tract a little. We finished the night by digitizing more records.

We devoted the bulk of Wednesday to uploading records and had dinner with a member. After dinner we discussed different ways to be a more effective missionary, mostly stemming from being bolder. We finished the night with some less active stop by's and went to sleep.

Thursday was one for the books. We taught a 9-year-old and then helped a member with their yard. This member gleefully invited us to stop by for a little wild turkey later in the evening. After tracting we had dinner with a member and made a stop on our victory tour to pick up a baggie of smoked turkey. We knocked on the door and were greeted with "great Elders, you can help me make dinner!" We had an awesome dinner of smoked wild turkey, mashed potatoes and baby carrots.

Friday, we had District meeting focused on not becoming a robotic missionary, but seeking to help people. We headed to Bristol and were stood up for 4 appointments. We were, however, able to meet up with a less active man and have a really good talk with him and resolve some of his concerns. Hopefully he will be able to attend church this Sunday.

Saturday and Sunday are a blur. We met with a family we haven't gotten to yet and as always, the Canton Ward supplied another amazing family. This ward in Canton, Connecticut - where there are about as many Mormons as there are Starbucks, (not many) - has an attitude of loving each other and being friends with those around them like the Savior taught.

Love you all Bunches,

Elder Zimmerman
