Week 5!

Hola! como estan?

and no that is not the only spanish that I have learned over the past couple weeks. haha I have learned a lot over the past 4 or 5 weeks and every day I am growing and getting better. Some days... well, a lot of days are tough language wise ( especially when our district decided to only speak spanish for the rest of our stay in the MTC) ((ill explain that later). But every day that we work at it, we get better! On the bright side, i'm growing spiritually more than I could have ever expected here! It took a couple weeks to really take hold of the gift that has been given to me, but, I have finally started to utilize the gifts here and I have had so many great blessings given to me. Scriptures mean so much more to me, and as I study, I am able to apply them to me and do something. I am able to feel the spirit guide me more than before. A lot of this has just come up this week too!

I suppose that I'll start with last sunday.

Our branch president, president Swenson talked during church about repentance and how it never really ends. We have to endure to the end, and constantly work for it until we die. I mean, have you really repented if you don't have a change of heart, and have humbled yourself to God? You cant just pray to God, ask for forgiveness, work at it and be good for a while, and then go back to sinning. That isn't how it works in the slightest! In a way, it is mocking God and the atonement. It is true that we do mess up again sometimes, and that is Ok as long as our hearts are set at becoming better, and working constantly to serve God! Anyways, that is what I got out of it.

Monday and tuesday was a lot of class and work. We taught about... 3 or 4 lessons? i can't really remember... But! they were all good, and I really felt the spirit in each of them directing me and my companion. I also began to get a cold on tuesday... For the past 4 weeks everyone in my district has gotten a cold, and I had been fine until now! I thought i was invincible, but maybe not haha!

Wednesday was when we all as a district committed to only speak spanish for the rest of the MTC stay. The entire day I worked on memorizing present tense of verb conjugations and now I have a pretty good hold on that. I didn't really speak much that entire day, but I am getting better!

Thursday was long, as it always is. Service at 6 AM, but at the same time, it is good to serve! and I do try to do what I can to have a positive attitude while I serve. After service, we had our last lesson with Jose, our TRC investigator. It was kinda sad since we had started to grow close to him as we taught him, (which is exactly what we want!) we did get pictures with him afterwards although the picture I got isn't that good, so unfortunately, i wont attach it to this email. We also did a skype TRC lesson with a member in Dallas Texas. It was like our first Lesson with a member. Me not knowing what they are saying, and struggling to find the words to help teach what I thought should be learned. But It is a good humbling experience and I learned a lot from reflecting afterwards.

One scripture that I found that I want to share from thursday is in 2 Nephi 32:8-9 which says:

8 And now, my beloved brethren, I perceive that ye ponder still in your hearts; and it grieveth me that I must speak concerning this thing. For if ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray, ye would know that ye must pray; for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray.

9 But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul.

I know what I learned from it, I want all of you to think about It, and maybe study these words yourselves. It likely wont mean the same for you as it did for me.

Now! for the big news, I Got my Travel plans for August 24 to go to Argentina! I leave Salt Lake at 1:53PM, get to Atlanta at 7:43PM, leave there for argentina at 10 PM and get to Buenos Aires Argentina at 9:10 in the morning! After that we'll probably have a 10+ hour bus ride to Cordoba. I think I'll be practicing a lot of spanish during those flights...

But yeah! while I am At the airports, I am allowed to call family and friends and talk as long as we have time! so If you would like to talk before I can't call anyone for a couple months, email me you're number and I will call you! :) just in case you dont have it.

Until then! I hope and pray you are all doing well! (especially you Emily! yes I saw the pictures)
God be with you!
