Elder Mejia

Week 50

Dear Family,     This week went by super fast! Last week we went to a waterfall for pday which was pretty legit. This week it got super cold (for El Salvador) so we've been walking around in sweaters which I never thought I would do in the mission. I finished reading the Book of Mormon in Spanish so yeah I'm basically fluent. XD I'm going to start reading Isaias so that's going to be bit of a tough read in Spanish. We had a pretty dope meeting with the Elders Quorum president and I just love that guy. He really wants to see the branch grow and see progress and share the gospel with everyone. We brainstormed a couple of simple ideas to get the branch more involved with the missionary work and reactivating the less active members and I really feel that what we came up with is going to have some great results in a couple of weeks. The key is to not get discouraged after the first few weeks because the change comes slowly.     After and as I was finishing the Book of Mormon, I really felt my testimony and love of this wonderful book grow immensely. As I studied its content, it instilled in me a great self reflexion, a greater understanding of my Savior's love for me, and a greater love for the Lamanite children whom I teach and serve daily. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, another Testament of Jesus Christ, The Iron Rod. Because I know that the Book of Mormon is scripture, I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of this world, I know that Joseph Smith was His prophet, that he restored the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness in preparation for the second coming of the Mesiah. "And this is not all. Do ye not suppose that I know of these things myself? Behold, I testify unto you that I do know that these things whereof I have spoken are true. And how do ye suppose that I know of their surety? Behold, I say unto you they are made known unto me by the Holy Spirit of God. Behold, I have fasted and prayed many days that I might know these things of myself. And now I do know of myself that they are true; for the Lord God hath made them manifest unto me by his Holy Spirit; and this is the spirit of revelation which is in me." (Alma 5:45-46)     I would just like to challenge every one of you to read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover and to pray as you read in the name of Jesus Christ if these things are true and I know, without a doubt, that God will reveal all things unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost. If you already have a testimony of the Book of Mormon that's fantastic but there is nothing wrong with asking again. It will only strengthen your testimony of the book and deepen your faith and understanding of our Savior.      I don't really have much else to share this week but I hope that you all have a fantastic week and that you enjoy this Christmas season!--
