Week 15 - Transfers!
Hey Everybody!
So as you can probably tell, one of the most exciting things this week was that we got transfer calls. So the verdict is this, I will be out of training and staying in Rochester. My new companion will be Elder Bowman. Elder Broekhuijsen is headed to Montpelier, Vermont. We head down to Manchester on Tuesday for transfer meeting. I am excited for this upcoming transfer!
One fun thing that happened this week was our Ward Christmas Party. I have always loved Ward Christmas parties, but this one as a missionary was just better! It is probably because the parties here are about 50% members and 50% non-members! So that was way cool! We had a good dinner, and then the youth put on a play with a band (or orchestra?) playing the music for it so it was way fun to watch that with some of our less-active members and investigators. I'll send a picture.
Another exciting thing this week was... we had a baptism this week!!! And by we, I mean the sisters in our ward had a baptism, haha. His name is John Wood. He is such an awesome person and has such a strong testimony! It is such a miracle that he was able to be baptized because of the situations that he is in. It is so amazing how the gospel can change peoples lives. John has only been investigating the church for a month or two now and there is a noticeable difference in his countenance! I can't remember if I have told you guys about our mission's goal for baptisms this year, but if I did then I'm sorry because I'm going to tell you again! So the goal that was set at the first of the year (2017) was that our mission was going to get 200 baptisms. The goal was going good for most of the year, but then it started to drop off towards the last half. By the start of December we had less than 150 baptisms. President Blair was planning on lowering the goal because we obviously weren't going to make it. But before he lowered he asked the leadership in the mission what they thought about it. They told him to have faith in the inspired goal that he set at the first of the year. It was going to take a miracle to get over 50 baptisms in one month, but we were willing to work for it. So we have been fasting and praying for the baptisms by the end of the year. We are currently on track to have about 211 baptisms by December 31!! It is so amazing to be apart of a miracle. I know that prayers really do matter! I know that without the goal at the first of the year, then we would have nothing to push for at the end of the year!
I challenge all of you to set goals in your life. If you want to accomplish something, prayerfully set a goal and then work towards it with all of the faith that it is possible! I can promise that if you do that then you can achieve it with the Lord's help! I love you all and I hope you have a great week! Merry Christmas because the next time I email will be after Christmas!

2: One of our district members was talked into (Forced) to get a haircut by a non-member and it did not turn out the best!

5: I actually lost my tag off of my coat early in the day and then we didn't realize it until later. When we went looking for it we found it right on top of the snow/sheet of freezing rain!
