Week 56- 13 months today!

Hi all,

Well, it has been a great week this week! We got some new people to teach so things should start to pick up. The first of the week was slow cuz on Thursday I had to go get my non citizen card renewed. It’s like a drivers license here. I knew that day would basically be a play day haha. It was good. We went to Accra and had lunch and then was back to our area at about 3. After we were home we went and saw a couple people.

Friday was probably the coolest day on my whole mission!! We contacted the brother to one of our investigators last week. We decided to call him to teach him. He brought a friend with him and they are both named Isaac. They were both into the lesson and talking a lot and answering questions. Then I started teaching the first vision and it was completely silent. It was so weird!! When I got done talking I looked at the friend to the brother. He was staring at my bible with the first vision picture on top of it out of the pamphlet. He looked up and he had tears rolling down his face and his eyes were red. I was kind of confused. I felt the spirit there but I didn't know what to do when I saw he was crying. It was really cool!! I have never had the spirit that strong my whole mission! It was definately a neat experience and what I needed to boost my spirits. The rest of the day I kept thinking about it and it made me realize why I'm here and what I'm supposed to be doing. I definitely needed a little boost of spirit after being so overwhelmed at how dead this dang area is. I am so grateful for that experience.

Saturday we got a few more new people. The people here in Tema are really good people but they are so busy it’s hard to find people who will give us time. Hopefully this week we can see those people and get them to come to church.

Today Maddox and I went up to Akuse for the whole day. It was so fun!! We just sat and ate and had fun with Stevo and Akpene. I miss them so much!! They were really happy today! Akpene's dad has finally excepted to let Stevo marry Akpene so that he can be baptized and then take her to the temple and be sealed. (Just a little background on marriages here in Ghana. The man can’t marry the girl until the father in law gives him permission. They can set whatever terms they want to; money, animals and any amount of time before they give permission. Sometimes it takes them years before they can.) They are completely different people almost. They are so much happier it’s crazy!! We went and saw their new house they are building and it looks like it will be really nice. It’s Maddox last week here so it was fun to hang out with him too. I’m gonna miss having all these country boys here in the mission. I'm about the last one left so I’ll be all alone after Thursday... oh well.
That’s all I can think of, have a good week

Love you all,
Elder Orton

Pictures this week are Stevo and Akpene house, some cool farm equipment And a car I found, and Maddox.
