Hello!
It was interesting this week. We spent a lot of time out and about in the
outlying parts of our area, up to 1 hour and 45 minutes one way. Then on
the days we were available to hit the streets finding, I got sick. And it
was -5, with 20 mph winds causing it to be -30. I asked for a healing
blessing, and it told me to get rest and take care of myself, so I can be
healed. Not going to lie, I was kind of mad. I wanted to hit the streets
hard and find some people to teach. I had that burning desire within me.
And God gave me this sickness, even though I've been following the
missionary schedule of retiring to bed at 10:30, rising at 6:30. He gave me
this sickness, and told me to rest. I was questioning why He would want me
to take a break. It was interesting for me, because I typically trust in
the Lord and am patient with Him, for example when I had spine surgery I
never once was mad. Never was in developing scoliosis, never was during the
healing process, never have been during the last almost three years
experiencing the lasting effects. But I was over a simple illness and God
telling me to rest instead of finding His lost sheep. I definitely
repented, needless to say, and became grateful for the break. I guess it is
true, if God told us to go do some great thing, would we not go do it? But
when He says, go and do something simple, whether it's to look, to wash, or
to rest, we tend to get a little upset, instead of grateful and exercise
our faith. I've learned my lesson.
Also, I learned that God will cause, or allow, things to happen to us so
we'll want to ask for a blessing, so then He can tell us things He wishes
us to know through them. In the blessing I received for this illness, and
in all of the blessings I've asked for over the last four months, every
single one has told me one or two things that are absolutely profound, that
I've kept sacred to me, and will for the rest of time and eternity. God
truly does wish to bless us with simple, profound knowledge, only through
which we can receive through Priesthood blessings. Don't be afraid to ask
for one. It is probably the best way, besides going to the temple, to feel
God's pure love for you. And if you're the voice, you are blessed with the
opportunity to feel God's pure love for others.
