Yes, I reached 7 months as a missionary this past week! It has strangely felt longer and shorter than 7 months. It feels longer than 7 months when I think of all the people I have met and how many times I have begun and closed my day with my companions. I am still enjoying the work and trying my best; and that's all the matters!
Transfers are this week. I am staying in Allentown with Elder Perry, but we are getting a third companion! It will be a bit of an adjustment living as a trio again after six weeks as a duo. Other than that, no news yet on Mexico.
We shifted our focus as a district and we are starting to work with members more. We aren't finding as many people now and we are trying some new ideas. First, we are taking turns as companionships to post English class ads on Facebook.
Second, I brought up the idea to start a weekly virtual Book of Mormon study group. We plan to let members of the ward take the driver's seat.
Meanwhile, I am getting used to driving and I am really excited for spring to keep unfolding! One thing I will mention is that our mission President said that March 17th marks one year since the first isolation precautions were placed (at least in the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission). I was not in the field then but from what other missionaries have said, it was a challenging time. President Dunnigan commended us for being the generation of missionaries who teach with technology like never before in the church.
Technology is definitely a blessing and it has impacted my mission experience even before I was ordained a missionary. I opened my call letter last April, not in front of a large gathering in person, but to family and friends in multiple states and even internationally via Zoom.
I invite you to ponder 1 thing you can do with technology to share a bit of the light of Christ with others. Who needs a scripture or inspirational message in their feed, or who needs a friend to talk to? You will see amazing miracles happen as you reach out with charity through technology.
Te amo mucho y adios,
Elder Williams
