Canyon Texas

Elder Elies

That's how They get ya!

Ok so funniest thing that I've probably seen on the mission: We were biking past a protestant (I think) church and they had a billboard sign that said, "DON'T PRAY ABOUT THE BOOK OF MORMON. THAT'S HOW THEY GET YOU!" And I thought to myself, "Ya, that's how we get you haha" I was so mad that I didn't have my camera with me!

Alright so we got to meet with Aime again this week and the lesson went pretty well, she's reading from the Book of Mormon but not for the right reasons. She's looking for ways to try and disprove it so that's something that we're trying to work on, which is helping her develop that desire. She invited us to her Bible Study class this Wednesday so we're going to check it out and see how many bashes we're going to get into haha. I'm not going to bash though, the Spirit is never there when that happens. I know that the Lord will be with us and hopefully we can just talk about some gospel topics!

I got to go to the temple this weekend and it was awesome! It was my first session that I got to do in the Lubbock Temple and the first session I've done in about 8 months! It was sweet! We got to go down with our ward mission leader and it was so fun spending time with him and his wife! They are a funny little couple! They remind me a lot about Grandma and Grandpa!

We got to see Fredrich Church again this week and we had a great lesson with him! We talked about the Plan of Salvation and he has a couple disagreements that I really feel like we can work out with him. He told us that he needs some time to get things sorted out and we totally understand (because of the recent loss of his wife). He's still coming to church and he loves it so we'll keep on visiting him!

We visited a family that recently moved in and they live WAY out in the country and they are going to start building a barn soon and they asked us if we wanted to help them out. So I'll have pics of us building a barn in the next couple weeks hopefully!

I was reading a talk from Jeff Erickson from a while back that hasn't impacted me until now. The title of this is "Wake Up" and there were a lot of incredible sayings in there but I just want to highlight on one thing that he shared. He quoted from Romans, that it is '“high time” to wake up and repent and start over and start now to serve with more vigor and vitality.' (Romans 13:11) As missionaries, we need to understand that it is imperative that we wake up and do what the Lord needs us to do so that we can fulfill our calling as his disciples.

I love you all and keep on keeping on!
