Afflictions

Hey everybody,
I will apologize in advance for the next few weeks. Things are pretty slow at the moment so there is not a whole lot to write about at this time. Hopefully that changes as time goes on and there’s more going on. But for now, a little recap on the smiths. Things are going good. We’ve met with them a couple times this past week and had some very good meetings with them. We’ve talked about more of the commandments, and read the Book of Mormon with them. I’m especially impressed with Trent. The 17 yr old boy. He’s a stud! Loves to learn, wants too have us there, he’s just great. We also had a Memorial Day breakfast yesterday which was a great time. We cooked pancakes, and sausage, had fruit and all sorts of toppings. We had volleyball, softball, football, and spike ball. It was a super fun time. Other than that, lots of walking around talking to people has taken place. Not much has come from it, but we’re hoping things will start to pick up soon. One thing I’ve really been thinking about as we’ve been in this area, is how things aren’t going well. Now I know my attitude is wrong, and that needs to change. But we genuinely have been working hard and just nothing has come from it. I was praying about this one morning before my personal study and this is what I came across in my study.
“40 And now my beloved brethren, I would exhort you to have patience, and that ye bear with all manner of afflictions; that ye do not revile against those who do cast you out because of your exceeding poverty, lest ye become sinners like unto them;
41 But that ye have patience, and bear with those afflictions, with a firm hope that ye shall one day rest from all your afflictions.”
It was very humbling to read this scripture and an answer to prayers. I need too have more patience and and know that the time when I “shall rest from my afflictions” is not too far away. And I will probably look back and not see these things as afflictions at all. So bear your afflictions with patience is my message today. I love y’all! Let me know if you need anything!

Love,
Elder Littlewood
