Efforts Are Never Wasted

Hey everybody!

I hope you are all doing great! First things first, I want you to know how much I love and care about and miss each and every one of you! I can’t wait to see you all in just a few short months! Please don’t hesitate to email me if you have any questions, need anything, or just want to talk! Y’all are great!
I wish I could say we had an amazing week, but that would be lying. As much as I love my mission, there are hard times and rough weeks. We have had a few of those rough weeks. Things just haven’t been going our way. We’ve had lots of appointments cancel, haven’t been able to make contact with some families we would’ve liked to, and so on and so forth. But I’m sure you don’t want to hear about all the bad things. There have been many good things as well. We’ve had the opportunity to do lots of service lately and it has been great! I love service! We also got to have lunch with some other missionaries at one of my favorite restaurants in Windsor. And we’ve got some good stuff coming up in the next couple weeks. We have interviews with the mission president, zone conferences, a trip to longmont, and all sorts of stuff.
Now I know I said I wasn’t going to talk about the bad things, and I’m not. So bear with me because this does turn out good in the end. I’m not sure if I mentioned this last week or not, but our district is doing a Book of Mormon challenge and we have a goal to hand out 200 copies of the Book of Mormon this transfer. Well we are doing pretty good. Well me and Elder borges had an open day, so we decided to do a bunch of Tracting to try and hand out some BOMs as we call them. We set a goal of knocking 100 doors. We started at about noon and had til 9 o’clock to reach our goal. Well we did it! For the most part everybody was very nice to us and respectful. Except for doors 98 and 100 who were not happy we were knocking on their door at almost 9 o’clock (which I don’t blame them for at all, but it’s what we have to do) and who yelled and slammed the door in our face, we had reached our goal! And guess how many BOMs we handed out?!?! Absolutely zero.... which was awful. So we were a little upset, and it was not fun to report our daily results to our district chat. We felt that our efforts had brought no results. However, another set of missionaries were able to hand out a combined 35 copies of the Book of Mormon! Afterwards, our district leader thanked us for our hard work and told us that because we worked so hard they were able to see success. Our mission has really been focusing on how our efforts might not affect us, but it will bless the work of someone else. And that definitely rang true on that day. It just goes to show that no effort is ever wasted. Because our Heavenly Father always notices. Sorry for how lengthy that was but I think it’s important that everybody knows that your efforts are never wasted! I love you all and hope you have a great week!

Love,
Elder Littlewood
