Read The Book of Mormon

Hello friends and family!
With a new transfer comes a lot of differences. And this one was no exception. Luckily a lot stayed the same but I have a very different companion from my last one. Elder Oates was transferred up to riverton Wyoming, and my new companion, Elder Borges just came from Greeley. He is hilarious! There is never a dull moment with him. He is from Brazil, but his English is amazing as well as his Spanish. He is so kind and loving and a very hard worker which is nice. Not much has changed in the missionary work lately. We still haven’t had a lesson with the smiths. The mom has been sick and that is making things difficult. And no progress with the other family either. But we are hoping that we start to see things pick up! We have set a district goal to hand out 200 copies of the Book of Mormon this transfer. We are killing it so far! We hope that by focusing on getting the Book of Mormon in peoples hands that we will be able to see Investigators followed by baptisms come from it. And the assistants promised us Krispy Kreme’s so it better happen! I wish I had more to report on but not much has changed. And transfer week usually messes things up so hopefully this next week will be great!

The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ! That is its sole purpose. Encompassed in the Book of Mormon is his Gospel, his Atonement and Resurrection, the people’s interactions with him and so much more. In 2 Nephi chapter 25 verse 26 it says this: “And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.” The Book of Mormon was given for our benefit so that we might know where to turn for a remission of our sins. And that is Jesus Christ. As a mission, we started a Book of Mormon challenge where we are reading the roughly 9 pages a day to follow Jospeh smiths pattern of translation from when he started to when he finished. We started and we will end on the same dates he did. I’m really excited! But as we read, we are focusing on highlighting all of the different names of the savior. If you’ve ever questioned whether or not the Book of Mormon testifies of Christ, just highlight his name as you read. I have read only 13 chapters and reference to the savior has been made 164 times that I’ve marked. And I’m being stingy as well. That is an average of 6 times per page. The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ! And it will strengthen the testimony you already have, or be the foundation for a testimony you are striving to begin. There is joy in the gospel. And the gospel is contained in the Book of Mormon. Read the Book of Mormon and follow its counsel and “you will have peace in this life, and eternal life in the world to come.” Of this I earnestly testify, in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, amen. I love you all so much!

Love,
Elder Littlewood
