This week was pretty grand! We did lots of neat things.
On Tuesday we had MLC!! That means I got to see Elder Beckman plus lots of other people from my group which was exciting! We had a great council with lots of great ideas with how to be more inspiring and uplifting. One of the main things that stood out to me from it was that as a mission we need to get better at not focusing on our weaknesses. Obviously, we are all trying to improve, but as we do this we shouldn't forget the strengths and spiritual gifts that our Heavenly Father has blessed us with! So much of our life is affected by how we talk to ourselves.
As I thought about this my mind (naturally) came to tennis, haha. The thing that I love about tennis is that it is just as much a mental battle as it is a physical. Your attitude and mindset going into any point affects your performance more than anything, and that's the same way it is on a mission, or even in life! Talking positively will change the way you see everything! A few examples (tennis and real life): If you are focusing on how bad you are at serving when you walk up to serve, chances are that you're going to double fault. If you tell yourself that you're bad at teaching, chances are that the lesson isn't going to go so great. If you tell yourself that you are bad at singing, then you're probably going to lack the confidence to sing well. Compare that with telling yourself that you are great at serving, you are an amazing teacher or great at singing. One builds you up and one tears you down. One is from a loving and kind Heavenly Father and one is from the adversary. God will never give us thoughts that are belittling, mocking, angry or discouraging, rather He will give us thoughts that uplift, help, bless and edify us! Sadly we might tell ourselves that we are great at serving and still double fault. But that's ok! God doesn't expect us to be perfect and his grace is sufficient!
Coming away from MLC with those thoughts, we went out with faith to do the Lord's work! We were able to teach a religion teacher about the church and the Book of Mormon, but sadly he wasn't willing to try anything and just wanted information. It was a testimony builder for me that in order to know spiritual truth we have to follow Moroni's promise in Moroni 10:3-5 and pray with a sincere heart, real intent and faith in Jesus Christ.
We also did Come Follow Me at a member's house and a returning member came as well! It was AMAZING and the returning member got a ride from the members and came to church yesterday as well :)
We also had exchanges with Hägersten and I had the opportunity to be with Elder Kent who is in his second transfer of training. He was working on having courage and taking initiative with talking to people and he killed it! He is fearless! Even though he is still having a hard time with the language, he just went up to talk to people and knew just what to say. The gift of tongues is real.
We've also had more time for finding people than usual, so it's been really nice to just go out and invite others to learn more about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
That's all I've got time for this week but I hope that you all have a neat week!
