Hey everybody! This week I have a lot more time so life is good.
This week a dream of mine came true. Technically I became companions with Äldste Tyler Beckman, one of my best friends from home!! We were only companions for the day because we were on splits, but we made every moment count. We switched on Friday night and it was so fun to just talk with him and see just how much we have grown spiritually. It's amazing and it just reminds me of Alma 17:2-3 when it says "Alma did rejoice exceedingly to see his brethren; and what added more to his joy, they were still his brethren in the Lord." But not only that! Äldste Beckman has "waxed strong in the knowledge of the truth and he is a man of sound understanding and he has searched the scriptures diligently (preach my gospel as well for that matter)". Basically he is a legend.
Everything with splits was amazing and miracles happened! Äldste Beckman came to my area of Kungsbacka and to start it out for exercise time I was able to show him a neat hike right by our apartment. After that we did some planning and personal study and then went out with faith! We set a goal to find 1 new person to teach and the person behind this goal was an older guy named Arne. You might remember him from my email a few weeks ago. We were knocking in an area and a person pointed to Arne's house and said that he might be interested. We went there and were able to give him a Book of Mormon and he said that we could come back and teach him another time (he had guests over). We had tried going back a few times but he was never home... until Äldste Beckman and I went by him again! We were able to sit down with him and his spouse Britta and teach them the message of the Restoration :) We committed them to read Moroni 10 and they said that we can come back this next Saturday with a member :)
Other highlights of our day together include having a member message with one of my favorite families here in Kungsbacka, knocking on doors and finding a referral for Äldste Beckman's area, and eating at my favorite restaurant in Kungsbacka: Mr. India! It was a glorious day and we talked to people on trains and tried to spread the joy of the gospel as much as we could! It's just so crazy to think that 2 years ago me and Äldste Beckman were probably hanging out playing super smash bros or chilling at a soccer game or something but now we are both missionaries in Sweden serving the Lord and the Swedish people. It feels good. Overall it was amazing and I learned so much and have lots of new goals to reach for!
Other than splits we also had a great week! We've been insanely busy meeting returning members with active members! We're putting a huge focus on ministering right now and we're seeing a difference in the ward!
One goal that both I and Äldste Beckman had on splits was that we really wanted to find ourselves and try and be ourselves. As I was studying about this I came to Heleman 5:12 - "And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall." As I worked on this goal throughout the day I came to find that we truly find ourselves in the service of our Savior Jesus Christ. As we learn about Christ and obey the commandments, we learn more about who we really are: children of a loving Heavenly Father. He is a God who loves us so much that he created a plan so that we would be able to receive everlasting happiness. We also learn more about who the people around us are and what their potential is. When we give of ourselves and serve God and His children we gain SO much more than what we give. It's amazing!
