Five more days in America

This time next week, I will be in Hanoi,Vietnam getting assigned to my trainer and preparing for the coming months. Most of me is excited beyond belief. I am very ready to get out to the real world after living in the same square mile for the last two months. My Vietnamese is not perfect by any means, but I am prepared to not understand the world around me for the next few months while I adjust to this new life. Saying goodbye to the people I've been struggling side by side with all summer is going to be hard, but we are all ready for the next adventure. This week, we had our last TRC with a guy we had a discussion with for our first TRC ever. We discussed the concept of Enduring to the End, and why it is important for us. The lesson was powerful, and he discussed how much he had seen us grow in not only the language, but in our testimonies of the Gospel we were preparing to teach. It can be hard to see your progress in the moment, but taking a second out of your day to look at how far you have come is a powerful motivator. Two months ago, I didn't know any of the people I have come to love here at the MTC. I didn't speak a single thing of Vietnamese, a language I can now use to teach someone about the gospel. It makes me so excited to see what I will accomplish two months from now. And to think that I am barely 10% through this mission makes me all the more excited to see how much more I will change. We extended this invitation to our TRC at the end of the lesson, so I figured I'd leave it here for you guys as well. We gave him this verse from D&C 61, and told him to write it down somewhere where he will see it often.

36 And now, verily I say unto you, and what I say unto one I say unto all, be of good cheer, little children; for I am in your midst, and I have not forsaken you;

I love this verse, because it teaches us to have faith and take comfort in knowing that Christ is with us. That through all of our struggles, we can endure to the end, because we don't have to do it alone. Hope you all have a great week, I will have a lot more to talk about next week.
