We have a member in our ward whose name is Sponge. She loves Spongebob and laughs just like him too. She is so awesome and is the ultimate member missionary assist person (aka peike. Yeah, I don't know how to say that in English). She went to America and brought us back Butterfingers and ranch dressing. You better believe we are going to eat so much salad this week!
We met a bunch of super cool people this week. We met this Indonesian guy who came to church, but he doesn't speak Chinese and he wouldn't let us translate for him. He just told us he would pray the whole time (I think he actually just took a nap). We also met this lady at the college, who is from Swaziland, named Tangela. She has so much soul and a passion for Jesus, that it was like listening to a Southern Baptist preacher. We shared with her the Book of Mormon. She was like, “ Wait, does this book contain the Holy Spirit?” We shared Moroni 10:3-5.
3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
She was like, "Where can I buy one of these?" We showed her LDS.org and she loved it! Then she sent us on our way with a few more praises for doing the sweet Lord’s work. It was rejuvenating!
I have been studying in Jesus the Christ a little bit recently, and it talked about a scribe who wanted to accompany Jesus and his apostles in His ministry. From the public's point of view, having the scribe, someone of high standing, with him would have been a good PR move, but Jesus taught how he chooses and not just accepts anyone to accompany him. I think that is another great attribute to try to gain, choose more than just accepting things as they are. As we choose who we want to be, we can become so much greater. Jesus Christ is our ultimate example. Become as He is!
