This week we had a fairly average week of missionary work, not interrupted by any big meetings, emergency calls to come and help with whatever, and leaving to another area to do exchanges. I always love when you just have the chance to get down to business.
Sunday, we had a family from Utah come to our ward and I translated for their boys. I now realize that a lot of people ramble on about some unnecessary stuff in talks, because I just kept saying, "Yeah they just said the same thing again,” and "I could translate that but I don't know what that has to do with their topic.” I for sure wouldn't consider translating my expertise.
With Chinese New Year coming up we are going to members and inviting them to share the gospel with family and friends, because that's when they all get together as families. The other day we shared in 1 Nephi 8 with one family:
11 And it came to pass that I did go forth and partake of the fruit thereof; and I beheld that it was most sweet, above all that I ever before tasted. Yea, and I beheld that the fruit thereof was white, to exceed all the whiteness that I had ever seen.
12 And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also; for I knew that it was desirable above all other fruit.
Sometimes, in order to share the gospel, people just share everything they know about the church and it’s just weird, and people don't understand whats so special. But, in this scripture they desired to share the fruit with their family. The JOY the gospel brings, the BLESSINGS that come from being obedient, the PURENESS that the Atonement of Jesus Christ gives to our souls. When we share these personal experiences and blessing from the Gospel, people connect and realize why they need the gospel in their own lives. We hope our members can use this to share with their friends in this family season!
