Sorry we missed last week so adding both this week:
Jan 8th -
Fun Story for Y’all,
Missionary work is so busy here we don’t even have time to tract. We are teaching over 20 people, have over 20 more investigators and 6 planning to be baptized. The members here are great! We get fed all the time and they are wonderful at reaching out to share the gospel and involve us in the process.
This week I got to meet a family of 3, their names are Efrem, Azon, and Big Momma (haha-she refuses for us to call her any other name😂) and the missionaries before me told me that Big Momma was really anti-LDS. So, the last time they went over, she screamed at them the whole time they were teaching Efrem and it got to the point they had to turn their backs and block her out just to teach Efrem. Well, in preparation to meet with her again, the plan was to have the two new guys, Elder Clark and I, talk to Efrem while Elder Mecham explained our purpose to Big Momma. That was the plan going in-it’s always good to have a plan. Obviously, God had other plans because I found myself sitting right with Big Momma while Elder Mecham was with Efrem. However, Big Momma surprised me and had a question about Joseph Smith seeing God and how that is impossible because they have to be transfigured like the apostles were. I was able to explain to her that we believe that they have to be transfigured as well and she brightened up. She went on to explain how she was cleaning that morning and she stumbled upon a Book of Mormon left by the family that lived in that house before her and she said maybe it was a sign so she asked if we could explain it. We were able to tell her about how Lehi was a prophet around the same time of Jeremiah and the basic story of his family. She thought it was really cool and then we got to give her her own personal Book of Mormon! Flash forward to a couple days later when we went to meet with them and she says that in a dream in the middle of the night the Lord woke her up and told her to go to a scripture. 1st Corinthians 1:2

"Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours"

She said that she knows that in this scripture, the Saints that it talks about was us! She then said that we would be seeing her and her sons at church.

I love the ward here on this military base. We have done lots of service work from wind damage but we spend most of our time teaching and talking to people. I love that the people are always so nice to talk to us and their neighbors.

Jan 15th -
Hey everyone!! This week was a little different. We trade off the car every 3rd week between other companionships so this was our week to walk. I actually really enjoyed being able to walk around and talk to everyone on the street! It does make it difficult sometimes though, this week we had a lot of appointments set up and they wouldn't be home. So we would end up walking 30 minutes to a lesson and then knocking that door and ending up having to walk back. This happened about 4 or 5 times and not gunna lie I was becoming frustrated, not because of having to walk. But because we were getting completely ignored with the effort we were putting into them!! And of course cause God likes to help us out Elder Mecham was watching a video and said I should check it out. So I decided to watch it and the video was titled "Good things to come" by Jeffrey R Holland. For anyone that hasn't seen this video I definitely suggest it!! The words he said at the end really stuck with me. He said

"Don't you quit, you keep walking, you keep trying, there is help and happiness ahead. It will be alright in the end, trust God and believe in good things to come."

I really love this. I said this to myself multiple times throughout the week. We then went to church that Sunday. It looked like no one we were talking to were going to make it to church that Sunday. Right after sacrament meeting. We look in the back and we see Big Momma and her son in the back!!! They decided to show up without invitation cause we thought they were gone! Expressing both how much they liked it we really got to see some amazing progression with them:)

Looking back on it. Getting ignored by all these people was hard. But sometimes you just gotta keep trying and God will bless you in the end.
