This week was a pretty interesting one here in HK. We had two typhoons in 1 week! One was a signal 10 and the other a signal 8. It was crazy, I don't think I've seen so much rain in my life. I'll send some videos but I don't think it does the typhoons justice. The building across from us actually had some antennas snap off the buildings it was so windy. I guess Tolo Harbor had 5 meter storm surges and several people died in Macau.
Fortunately things were fine here in my area. Mostly just uprooted trees and branches all over the place. The lame thing about it too was that we couldn't really do any service after because they have people here whose job it is to just clean everything up. So we missionaries just had to stay inside, clean, do calls, and weekly planning. Everything is okay though.
This week we were meeting with an recent convert and she kept telling us how crazy it was that she lived so long without knowing about the restored Gospel and how great it is that she knows now. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is truly amazing and the restored truths that we have are truly amazing. It is such a blessing to share these things with others because almost as soon as they start applying the principles associated with the doctrines they start being blessed. It's so simple even a child can understand.
Hope Y'all have a good week!
Sincerely,
Elder Ashton
Fun fact 1: Signal 10 is equivalent to a category 3 hurricane and they are very rare in Hong Kong. The news reported that the first storm that hit Macau was the strongest in 52 years and that at least 18 people died.
Fun fact 2: The members in his ward have been amazing, updating Mom in the US with Facebook messenger that the missionaries were safe and being cared for.
