We can buy a new ironing board!!!

August 21, 2017

Hey,

This week has been another good one here TKO! Our investigator Sister Lai got baptized. It was awesome! One of the sweetest blessings of being a missionary is seeing people develop their faith in Christ and have a desire to follow him. It's also interesting because I feel like I didn't do much to help any of these people get baptized. All us missionaries do is give these people the tools and information they need to know and have faith for themselves. Luckily the Lord has blessed me with seeing some of the fruits of the labor.

Also this week I had a day where I was just not really feeling it and not really being happy about things because the work is hard. I realized that I was focusing too much on myself, as I started to forget myself and get to work I started feeling better. Missionary work is hard but as you rely on the lord he will lift your burdens.

I love Mosiah 24 it talks about how the lord lifts our burdens "And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions. And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord." As we submit to the will of the Lord he will lift us up.

Also we finally got approved to buy a new ironing board. Because our other one was kinda shaped like this /^\_/ but finally after bugging the office elders it was approved. LOL. Hope Y'all have a good week. Add Oil!

Sincerely,

Elder Ashton

Fun fact 1: Typhoon Hato slammed into Hong Kong and Macau after Elder Ashton wrote this-so probably more of that next week. We have heard from some wonderful members of his ward to let us know he was safe and fine, and the mission also reported that all missionaries are safe and accounted for. Whew!

Fun fact 2: Macau had some significant damage, but the area by Elder Ashton was not as badly damaged. It was listed as a T10 storm-which is equivalent to a category 3 hurricane.
