This week has been another fantastic one here in the lovely TKO. Last night we got the transfer calls and after a few minutes of suspense I found out that I will get to stay in TKO for the next 9 weeks at least.
Also this next Sunday our investigator Sister Lai is getting baptized. It's so amazing to see people develop their faith and come unto Christ. TKO is such a special area I love it here.
This week I was doing a language pass off (practicing teaching with the Zone leader) and I was asked, if God wants to forgive us so much than why do we have to ask for forgiveness? I was thinking it that it's like if a kid wants to get some ice cream from their parents. The parents want to give their child ice cream and make them happy and comfortable, but the child needs to want the ice cream in the first place and then ask their parents please let me have some ice cream. Repentance is similar we need to want forgiveness first and then ask our loving Father in heaven to forgive us.
Also this week we had Zone conference which was awesome because we got to hear from president Lam. He taught us about how important it is to teach the doctrine, or in other words, the “why” before we commit people to do something. Because if they understand the “why”, then the “what” and “how” will be much easier.
Don't have too much time left today but hope y'all have a good week. Add Oil.
Sincerely,
Elder Ashton
Fun fact 1: Elder Ashton must be doing well because when I mentioned it was already time for school to start for his brother, he reflected that it seemed like yesterday that he went into the MTC in the middle of winter!
Fun fact 2: Pictures posted by members of the missionaries advertising their English classes for children by handing out balloons prompted me to ask about it. He said they had a fair amount of interest in it, so that’s good. Also adorable.
