Transfers!!

May 1, 2017

Hey Friends,

This week has been a great one here in TKO, and it is the last one of the transfer. We got the calls last night and my companion and I will be staying in TKO. I am so excited that I get to stay because the area is fantastic.

It's interesting when they talk about how missionaries need to love the people they serve, because I haven't struggled at all to love the people here. I'm guessing that it has to do with the fact that serving makes you happy. Anyways, the ward here is fantastic, they are all so willing to help us with the work when we ask, and they do a great job fellowshipping all of the people we bring with us to church. It is amazing to see how the gospel can bless people’s lives. One of the best things about being a missionary is seeing people overcome their trials and finding joy in Jesus Christ.

I don't have tons of time so I'll end with something I'm grateful for. Recently I've noticed how very blessed we as members of the church are to have modern revelation. I noticed how many ways that people can interpret the Bible hence the confusion and multitude of churches that exist on the earth today. Luckily for members though we have prophets, apostles, and 3 additional volumes of scripture to make things clear, and easy enough to understand.

Hope you all have a fantastic week.

Warm regards,
Elder Ashton

Fun fact 1: Elder Ashton loves Hong Kong and says his language skills are improving. He does report that while he understands a lot more, he has to rely on his companion a lot
Fun fact 2: When I (mom) asked about bread he reported that it is “super good bread” and tons of little “Bauh (bun) shops with amazing bread”. His favorite is “Gaaimeibauh” which is a bread that has coconut inside and butter and sesame seeds on the outside.
Fun fact 3: Last month Elder Ashton and his companion sang “Be Still My Soul” in a small a cappella group and it was lovely. You can go here to view it: https://youtu.be/w_mZKiZXh1Q. He is excited to sing several other upcoming things with his talented companion. (Mom is secretly hoping someone records it!)

Lots of pictures today! (and probably out of order)
