Zone Conference and Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Hey everyone,
This week was another fantastic week here in Kwun Tong. This week we had zone conference, and taught some lessons did some finding and did some good old missionary work.
This week we taught one of our investigators and he is so solid! We set a baptismal date with him and he was pretty excited about it. Also, this week was zone conference which was great as usual. This time we talked about a lot of different things but president Phillips spent some time talking about covenants and broke down what a lot of covenants mean and how they can help us. I learned a lot and it is really neat to see how many blessings the Lord has in store for us, and how readily the Lord is willing to bless us.
Also, this week I read a talk by President Uchtdorf about gratitude he told fun story that goes like this "There is an old story of a waiter who asked a customer whether he had enjoyed the meal. The guest replied that everything was fine, but it would have been better if they had served more bread. The next day, when the man returned, the waiter doubled the amount of bread, giving him four slices instead of two, but still the man was not happy. The next day, the waiter doubled the bread again, without success. On the fourth day, the waiter was really determined to make the man happy. And so he took a nine-foot-long (3-m) loaf of bread, cut it in half, and with a smile, served that to the customer. The waiter could scarcely wait for the man’s reaction. After the meal, the man looked up and said, “Good as always. But I see you’re back to giving only two slices of bread.”"
I really liked what he said about the story because he said that sometimes just counting blessings isn't enough, we need to develop an attitude of being grateful no matter the circumstances, even if our perceived allotted share of blessings seems to be less than we hope for. We can remember the Lord in all circumstances and be grateful for all of the many blessings that he has given us! Anyway, have a good week and Happy thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Elder Ashton
Fun fact 1: They do get to celebrate Thanksgiving this week with his zone. He said they are in charge of mashed potatoes.
Fun fact 2: We got his itinerary for travel home this past week! He arrives in Denver January 25th.
Fun fact 3: His sister gets home 3 weeks later, so they will do their homecoming talks on the same day. February 17th (save the date!)
