MLC and Disneyland...sort of

Hey,

This week was a fantastic week here in Kwun Tong! This week was full of adventure.

To start off, shout out to a random dude from California that paid for our Subway! So, funny story: we had to go to Wan Chai for a meeting and we decided to stop at the subway there and grab a bite to eat. About 2 people in front of us in the line was this guy-he looked like like a slightly taller version of my dad with the same facial hair and everything. We say hi and then right before he leaves he pays for our lunch and just walks away!!! What a cool guy!

This Wednesday we had Mission Leadership Council (MLC) which was great. We spent a lot of time talking about doing the work by the spirit. President Phillips shared from Matthew 17: 24-27 about how the Lord miraculously paid taxes. At first it didn't really seem to relate but then he told us how normally they would throw out a new net and try to catch a bunch of fish, and that we as missionaries could try that and just go out to try and find a bunch of people, but using that method may have yielded no fish that have coins in their mouths.

The Lord, however, knows where to find the fish with coins in their mouths and if we just do what he says he will guide us to the ones that have been prepared. In a lot of things we do we can go out and work really hard and not make much of a difference but if we rely on the Lord we can work wonders!

Also, this week we had a ward activity at a place called inspiration lake which is right next to Hong Kong Disneyland, but it was super fun! Anyway, hope some of that made some sense!

Sincerely,
Elder Ashton

Fun fact 1: He told his dad that the guy who paid for their meal looked so much like him (dad) that it kind of freaked him out. Haha.

Fun fact 2: He doesn't know what they're doing for Thanksgiving yet but it's his favorite holiday.

Fun fact 3: If you will be sending out Christmas cards, please think about including Elder Ashton. I know he'd love it. (address below)

You can email Elder Ashton at joel.ashton@myldsmail.net.

If you would like to send him regular mail:
