Doing Well!

Hey,

This week has been another fantastic week here in Kowloon City. This week was pretty neat. I got a new companion, I did some missionary work, and we got locked out of our apartment.

My new companion, Elder Bell, is pretty cool. He is also from Utah but his family lives in Texas now so he claims to be from there depending on the day. He's pretty neat; he did construction for a year before the mission so he has an got a little bit of a different perspective than some of my other companions.

Also fun story: the day of transfers we moved the 3 new elders into the good old Mong Kok apartment just fine and the day went pretty smooth until we came back at about 8:45 to find some sweaty elders locked out of the apartment trying to open up the door. It turns out that part of the lock broke so we got to spend a night sleeping on the floor of the temple apartment and then the next day we had to spend a few hours trying to find a locksmith to open the door. It was quite an adventure.

Also, this week I read a talk by Elder Christofferson from October 2014 conference, he says "In matters both temporal and spiritual, the opportunity to assume personal responsibility is a God-given gift without which we cannot realize our full potential as daughters and sons of God." I think it is pretty neat how he says that taking personal responsibility is a God-given gift.

One of the things that I've come to understand on the mission is just how important it is to be accountable for our actions. As we make an accounting to our leaders and the Lord, it pushes us to improve and helps. us to understand some of our shortcomings and how to overcome them.

Anyway, Hope Y'all have a great week! 加油!

Sincerely,
Elder Ashton

Fun fact 1: The talk he refers to is "Free Forever, to Act for Themselves" by Elder D. Todd Christofferson and can be found here: https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/10/free-forever-to-act-for-themselves?lang=eng

Fun fact 2: From attached pictures, you can see he still quite enjoys cereal.

Fun fact 3: They went to Stanley Bay on p-day and found nice views and dog parking. Who knew!?
