This week was a fantastic week here in Hong Kong. This week I got a new companion and I got to see General Conference!
First of all my new companion is named Elder Finch and even cooler is that he's from Iowa. He's been out for about 8 months here in the field and he's a stud.
Also, the best part of the week: we saw conference! Some of this may seem like old news to y'all back in the USA, but here it comes a day late. It was so cool to participate in the Solemn Assembly and sustain the Prophet. It is really so amazing that the Lord has authorized people today to lead and guide us through the trials of life. Also, it was so fantastic to hear some of the changes that are coming to how we will minister to the Lord's children and focus on their needs more effectively. I know that the changes are just another fantastic example of the Lord directing his Church in the latter days.
Also, as I reflected back on some of the topics of conference I was thinking about the magnitude of what the prophet is asking that we minister to people in the same way that the Savior would while he was here on the earth, and stand as his representative to bless those in need.
As I thought about that, I was thinking about the enormity of that task and how painfully inadequate I am. But I loved President Ballard's talk. He talked about moving mountains with faith. I came to realize that we all have our own mountains of inadequacy but with just a mustard seed of faith we can overcome our inadequacy and bless the lives of those around us.
Anyway, things are going great here. Hope y'all have a fantastic week! Add oil!!
Fun fact 1: No pictures again. I think he's having trouble finding a computer with a thumb drive spot. Dang.
Fun fact 2: Not positive but I think they watched General Conference a week later (he said a day later in his letter)-they are 14 hours ahead of SLC, which means conference is on at midnight and 4 am, so it makes sense they wait!
Fun fact 3: The talk he referenced from General Conference by Elder Ballard can be found here: https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2018/04/precious-gifts-from-god?lang=eng
and it is really good!
