SO MANY MUSHROOMS!!!
Hey everybody,
This week was an interesting week as far as missionary work goes here in Hong Kong. Due to Chinese New Year and its associated festivities, pretty much all of everyone we could meet with were either out of town or busy celebrating.
Luckily for us missionaries however, some of our members had us over to eat... that's where the mushrooms come in. During Chinese New Year everybody gets together with their families and eat lots of traditional Chinese foods and one popular thing in like every dish is mushrooms. I don't think I've seen so many mushrooms in my life. It was great though, it's like a Chinese version of Thanksgiving but instead of just one big meal, it is two big meals with family members for four days straight! It's fantastic!
Also, we had zone conference this week which was great. We were able to talk about Christ's Atonement. President Lam talked about Handel's Messiah (the music) and about how the funds from that arrangement went to free people in a debtors prison, and how without the atonement we would all be like those debtors unable to be freed because of our sins. Luckily, Christ atoned for us so we can all repent and be able to overcome sin and death. It is so amazing.
Also, this week I got to go back to TKO for Nathan's baptism :)!!! So everything is great! Have a good week Add Oil!

P.S. We got transfer calls--I get to stay in Sheung Shui but I'm not district leader any more, so things are good here. :)
Fun fact 1: Elder Ashton has to renew his drivers license via mail because it will expire before he returns. So I had to mail him the paperwork, and then he had to sign and mail the forms back from HK to Colorado-thankfully the mail between HK and the US is a little faster than his sister's mission!
Fun fact 2: The story about how proceeds from Handel's Messiah went to free people from debtors prison is one of his Dad and Mom's favorite stories.
Fun fact 3: Elder Ashton sent tons of pictures, but his ward posted more. Looks like they had at least one seriously yummy looking party and went on a hike to see a huge pipe. Haha! Later he mentions it is one of the main water pipes for HK. Go HK ward members for being epic at posting pictures!
