This week has been a pretty good one here in Hong Kong, also this week marks one entire year as a missionary! It's pretty crazy to think that I've been out for as long as I have. Sometimes it feels like I just left but then sometimes it feels like I've been out forever, it really depends on the day.
It has been quite a blessing and learning experience to serve the Lord as a full time missionary. I could probably write for days about all of the things that I've learned but one thing that stuck out this week to me was the importance of our example.
This week we were meeting with some members and each time we met them we ended up talking about how important it is to be a good example. 1 Timothy 4:12 says "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." Everywhere we go people are watching us and our actions and they notice what we do. It is amazing what simple acts of service or simply being nice to someone can do. It can open doors in places that we previously thought were shut.
Also, quick thing, this week we had a zone find in Ma On Shan and we were walking along and this lady in a wheelchair flagged us down and had us push her to the train station. It was pretty neat. She saw and recognized us as missionaries and we were able to give her number to the Mandarin sisters.
Anyway, hope y'all have a good week! Add Oil!
Sincerely,
Elder Ashton
Fun fact 1: No pictures this week, apparently the place they went to do their emails this week didn't have a USB plug. Hopefully pictures next week!
Fun fact 2: In his new area he says they do a lot more 'finding', and have fewer current investigators, but that the people are willing to talk to them. So that's good!
Fun fact 3: So far so good with the new companion! He says he's great and really good at finding. So that's awesome.
