Thanksgiving and Transfers!!!

Hey,

This week was a fantastic one here in the China Hong Kong Mission.

This week we got transfer calls and luckily, I get to stay here in TKO!!!! I am so happy; I love this area and all of the people in it The only sad part is that Elder Newbold in Po Lam is moving out of our apartment and headed to Aberdeen, but Po Lam will be getting a new trainee.

Also, my district just got a little bigger because the Po lam elders are in my district again. So now I have to conduct even more exchanges WOOO!!! Anyway, TKO is the best place to serve.

Also, this week was great because it was Thanksgiving!!! It was awesome this week! We had a zone missionary Thanksgiving party with turkey and pizza! It was pretty great, then afterwards we had a ward missionary Thanksgiving party with a bunch of less actives, investigators, and non members. This week we also had interviews with President Lam, which were awesome as usual.

This week in Gospel Principles class we were reading in Luke 22 and verses 42-44 say "Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground."

As Christ was atoning for us, the weight of our sins was almost too much to bear, but I love how it says "Being in agony he prayed more earnestly." I love how even when things were really hard he didn't give up, or pray less earnestly, and stop to breathe or take a break. He prayed more earnestly. Sometimes in life things get hard but as we face those challenges we need to face them with faith and rely on the Lord through our trials.

Hope Y'all have a great week. Add Oil!

Sincerely,
Elder Ashton

Fun fact 1: Elder Ashton sent a bunch of pictures from a trip to the mall where there was a Star Wars/Lego display. It's pretty clear he was happy about this-and if you know him well you know that Star Wars and Legos were some of his favorite things growing up.

Fun fact 2: He is struggling to remember how to speak words in English. He seems to be able to type it all right though-but reports that he has to think when his companion asks what a word is in English.

You can email Elder Ashton at joel.ashton@myldsmail.net

If you would like to send him regular mail/Christmas cards:
