It's been a great week that's for sure! The beautiful thing is everyday you never know what to expect or what's going to happen.
Still getting used to the fact that I'm a leader here. Pretty weird hearing it considering I just got here lol. But I love it, not only do I have the opportunity to help the people here in Malone, now I watch over the sets of missionaries in my district as well. It's amazing how fast you can grow to love people when you see them as God sees them.
On Tuesday I had a district leader Conference with all the district leaders in the mission. It was weird since most of them have been out forever and I just got out of training, but President Vest expressed the confidence he has in us so that has helped. Also great meeting many of the missionaries from all over the mission.
Some of my favorite things that were discussed "we represent the Lord to the people, not the people to the Lord". Also we must take everyone opportunity as a teaching moment leading by example one by one. And we can see clearly when we we posses light and truth, so we much do everything we can to always have it. I just love learning so much, look forward every chance I get to hear from the leaders in the mission.
Alrighty here's probably the best part of the week! We have been working with our friend Jackson whose had a problem with smoking and drinking for all of his life. He's really hated it and wanted to stop but never has been able to. Well earlier this week we sat down and made a plan with him on how he's going to stop. Then we came by Saturday and he told us how happy he was feeling cutting what little he has and the fact that he has a plan. I'm so grateful for the impact in peoples lives we get to make our here. It's more than just increasing the membership of the church, it's turning people to the Savior and the light he can bring into our lives. The fact that they can have greater joy come closer to him than any where else.
It's crazy how God will place people in our paths when we plan and pray for it. Many times this week we stopped by people who had interest in missionaries coming by but we couldn't get a hold of them, then we come by and set up an appointment with them. One of them was Ashley, we came by and she was smoking outside. We talked with her and she explained how she's been going through a lot and is moving soon. After we explained we'd come by and help her moved she expressed she'd love for us to start coming by again!!
It's seriously so great being out here! It's so easy to find joy in the simplest of things and learning to love everyone for who they are.
Here's a scripture for the week - 3 Nephi 12: 14-16
14 I give unto you to be the light of this people. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
15 Behold, do men light a candle and put it under a bushel? Nay, but on a candlestick, and it giveth light to all that are in the house;
16 Therefore let your light so shine before this people, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven
I know all of you are amazing great individuals who have the light of Christ in us. We must make sure we are sharing that with everyone we meet, since many times they notice even if we don't know. Keep being who you are by loving everyone making sure they know they are valued and you will be so much happier because of it!
