Mom note: Here is an excerpt from Jarod's personal letter to me and his father:
"I also was able to help my companion to understand a little better this week the importance of only talking in Spanish. Because he hasn't really had the confidence to only talk in Spanish so he talks to me in English a lot. But this week we put in some extra effort and he told me that he really felt that when he didn't expect it, he knew the words to say. haha."
I love to hear about the care and consideration these missionaries take when training a companion. Now on to Elder Stirling's group letter:

A whole week has gone by and it's a pretty great one out in the campo misional (mission field).

1. This week we were able to do a lot more service like usual because fall is upon us and everyone here is buying wood. So we get plenty of opportunities to serve the people.

2. An awesome experience that we had this week was during a lesson we had yesterday. We were teaching him about the Restoration and when I was reciting the first vision, I had like crazy deja vu. Because I have probably recited it many times, but was remembering the first time saying it back when I was in Calbuco in my first sector. It is amazing how blessed we are to have the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And truly this Gospel is quite simple as I was able to learn during my studies this week.
Elder Neal A. Maxwell (1926–2004) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles taught that the simplicity of the gospel is the very reason some people find the gospel so difficult to accept:
“There is in the Book of Mormon a statement in which the Lord says, ‘Behold this is the gospel, which I have given unto you,’ and then he describes his gospel. (See 3 Nephi 27:13–18.) It is a simple story of a world to which a Savior has been sent whom men may accept or reject, but who is, nevertheless, the Messiah.
“That simple story is the very thing, of course, the world cannot accept, and it is so simple that some may even be offended inwardly at times by the so-called simplicity of the gospel. …
“… There are those who may share some of our beliefs and values, but for whom the restoration of the gospel is a stumbling block they cannot get over the top of. But to most of mankind, what we proclaim is ‘foolishness’ ” (For the Power Is in Them [1970], 47–48).
Truly though, the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored by a true Prophet of God. And Russel M. Nelson is truly a prophet today.

Just want you all to know too that I am very grateful for what I learn every week when I study the gospel. And especially for what we will hear and have heard in the many General Conferences. I know that we will receive personal revelation from them. I love you and wish you a happy week!😁👏
