Sad to see Elder Lamb leave. He was such a great companion, but I am excited to be companions with Elder Weenig in Saratov.
I have often shared the scriptures about the compass. Whether talking about the Book of Mormon, Holy Ghost or Patriarchal blessings, I have often compared them to a compass. I read this the other day. I have always known that the 'ball of curious workmanship' worked according to faith, but what I didn't realize was that it also works according to the guidance that we have been previously given. We have to act on what we have received, we need to listen to the direction and then act accordingly.
1 Nephi 16:28: "And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the pointers which were in the ball, that they did work according to the faith and diligence and heed which we did give unto them."
We had some good contacting time this week. We have just been hitting the streets of Saratov. One day we had some friends that wanted to go to sports day, but it was in Solnechney which is quite far away. We went and on the way we were sitting on the bus. We do the usual grind method which is to ask a question about the language. It worked really well though. Had a long conversation about our purpose.
On another day, we were planning a lesson for our investigator. Our plan was to talk about the Plan of Salvation with him. We show up and he somehow gets on the topic of his grandpa that had died a while ago. We thought that it was perfect. We jumped right into it. It went really well but we could tell that he felt a little weird about it. So we invited him to pray about it that night. The next day he comes to English night and says that he did it. He said "I know that I can trust you guys." Wow, what comforting words.
