Monday: We were taxying home. The driver already knew who we were! He says "oh Mormons" I asked him how he knew and he said he has been to the building to pick up other Mormons. He said that he believes in the Bible. We ask him if he knows what the Book of Mormon is. He said no. We talked about it and said that we believe in the Book of Mormon and Bible. After we talked about the Book of Mormon, he starts talking about how the Mormon church is a sect. I asked what he meant by that (because Elder Golden taught us to understand what people mean when they say stuff like this). I don't know exactly what he said but Elder Kennedy and I just decided that it wasn't worth it to fight. I was studying my scriptures this week. I was reading in 2nd Nephi 27. Isaiah talks about how there will be another book which is the Book of Mormon. He also talks about Joseph Smith. This is a testimony that the Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion. We need this Book. The Bible and the Book of Mormon go together.
We did a lot of service this week. A member needed help in his house that he was building. We carried 1000 KG of materials up 7 flights of stairs. It was absolutely crazy. On top of that we were fasting. We carried 25 Kg of concrete stuff at a time. I decided to take 2 of those at once. I don't know how we did it. My legs were shaking and we were just physically exhausted. Then our Bishop brought treats and we couldn't eat them.
On a different day we shoveled all the snow in the church parking lot. There was at least 2 feet of snow. It was so tiring!
The Dauchney ward has like 7 deaf people. I have been learning Russian sign language for a while so we can say stuff to them! It is so cool! On the bus I asked asked this guy a question. He turns to me and does the international sign for I am deaf. I start talking to him in my limited knowledge of sign language. I asked him how he was doing and he said "good" (which is fantastic because that is the only sign that I know for that question). After that he started to tell me about himself. The weirdest thing though is that I understood. He said that his job is snow shoveling. Then he said I am going to go home to eat then drink then sleep. I thought that that was cool.
