Hello Fam and Friends,
Russian is still super hard but this week I really went hard at the language and it paid off. My understanding is getting better. Instead of speaking in mumble jumble I can speak in complete sentences that make sense.
Monday night last week. We went to the Emazov to eat some chicken. It was so tasty. They also have the best tea and candy. Yes the tea is herbal so don't worry about that. The candies don't have alcohol in them so I am good. After we ate dinner we left our spiritual thought. He said thanks and asked if I could give him a blessing. HAHA,OK I said. I said a quick little prayer and went for it with a clear mind. I felt the spirit as I gave this man a blessing. I gave my first blessing in Russian. It was so tough and I hope it made sense. He said "thanks and your Russian is improving." haha it was an experience worth having. I don't know why I was so stressed to give this blessing.
We met with Dennis. He is our 9 year old investigator. He is such a good kid and a very smart kid. We were talking about Joseph Smith. We asked him who Joseph Smith was and he answered the question simply and perfectly. He said "Joseph Smith was the prophet that restored the church and translated then Book of Mormon." I was stunned. He knew more than me when I was baptized. HAHA well we gave the rest of our lesson and asked him if he was ready for baptism. He said I don't know yet. We told him to think about it. We need to get this date set in stone. After the lesson, Elder Nelson and Dennis were playing chess. I was sitting on the couch studying some Russian. Dennis's mom comes over and asks me if I want to have soft hands so I said yes! I went thru 4 stages of creams and had some bathe salts. I don't know what was happening. I have really soft hands now haha. Next week she invited me over to get a manicure. Don't even know what that is but lets do it.
We have started playing 4 hours of sports on Saturday with all the volunteers in Saratov. It is so much fun but after that I am dead tired and ready to sleep but we gotta keep working. We baked some bread and took it to Alexay who is a good guy that struggles with the 'secret combinations' and has a hard time being poor. He really wants to be rich in the things of the world. He actually bought a world bible which isnt very good. But he really liked the bread we made for him and we are trying anything and everything to help him get back on the right track.
I love this scripture: Alma has been leading away the people of the church and causing contention and also people to fall into iniquity. The angel appears to him and strikes him dumb. He thinks there is no way out and that he will be miserable for ever. Alma says
Mosiah 27;29 My soul hath been redeemed from the gall of bitterness and bonds of iniquity. I was in the darkest abyss; but now I behold the marvelous light of God. My soul was rackedwith eternal torment; but I am snatched, and my soul is pained no more.
I love it because no matter how far you think you have traveled in sin and iniquity. I promise you that you have not passed the reach of the Atonement because it is infinite. I love the scriptures
