Week 30 "Quick, what's the number for 911?"

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a great week, our's was a little interesting here in Cherokee. On Saturday morning we were able to do some service, helping Sis. Young Bull in our ward move things from her house into storage. We went and out to the car and found that someone had stolen our license plate off of our car!!! This was a first for me, but I couldn't help but laugh a little.

The rest of the week went really well. Although we had a rough time finding throughout the week, we had so many great teaching appointments, only a couple fell through. Two of our investigators, Briseda and Freida, are doing very well and we just have to get them to church. Briseda is so awesome because she comes prepared with all the right questions, and she keeps a scripture journal! It is so cool, she's gonna get baptized, I can feel it. Freida is another lady who has been through a lot and rejected her old church because she feels like it's a business. They are both prepared and you can see it in their eyes.

Yesterday evening one of the coolest things happened. We stumbled into this family of 8 people in a backwoods community in our area, and one of the kids, a 16 year old, answered and talked to us for a good while. He was wondering what we we were doing dressed up and walking up country and mountain roads all day for, and we told him about missionary work. Then he told us, "that's so awesome, I want to do that someday." (In my mind I was thinking, let's make that happen kid!) so we're going back this Wednesday and hopefully teaching a family of 8, who are all baptismal age!! How often does that happen out here? Never. I am really started to see how much the Lord's hand is in His missionary work and when we trust Him, and He can trust us, He will put someone in our path that is prepared. I have a testimony of that and that we are simply instruments in His hands. I read this scripture in 2 Nephi 27 about the coming forth of the Book of Mormon:

2 Nephi 27: 14, 20-21, 23

14 Wherefore, the Lord God will proceed to bring forth the words of the book (Book of Mormon); and in the mouth of as many witnesses as seemeth him good will he establish his word; and wo be unto him that rejecteth the word of God!

20 Then shall the Lord God say unto him: The learned shall not read them, for they have rejected them, and I am able to do mine own work; wherefore thou shalt read the words which I shall give unto thee.

21 Touch not the things which are sealed, for I will bring them forth in mine own due time; for I will show unto the children of men that I am able to do mine own work.

The Lord will bring His sheep to the fold one way or another, and we simply have the opportunity to decide if we want to help His work or hinder it.

23 For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith.

I love this promise as well:

29 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.

30 And the meek also shall increase, and their joy shall be in the Lord, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

Because of the Book of Mormon, we can see clearly in a day of spiritual blindness and hear in a day of spiritual deafness. When we read the Book of Mormon intently, we cannot deny the feelings that come from the Holy Ghost. And we can feel those same feelings whether its the first time reading it, 2nd, or 100th time! If we are meek, we will feel the joy that the Savior talks about in so many scriptures. Seek after true joy!

I love you all, keep being awesome and see youns next week!
